Measure GG oversight committee reports $304M raised, outlines gyms, pool and classrooms

Wade said the original allocation split from 2014 assigned 63% of bond funds to Corona, 14% to Norco and 23% to Eastvale. She said three issuances of the bond have occurred and that state school facilities funding could add substantially to the district’s ability to cover future projects.
John (last name not specified in the presentation) summarized active Corona projects funded through Measure GG and other district funds: a 10,000-square-foot gym at Rainey Intermediate and a similar gym at Auburndale (contracts awarded January 2024, both expected to complete by February 2026), the Centennial High School aquatic center (a 50-meter pool; contract awarded January 2024; walls and lighting underway; expected completion July 2025) and site improvements at Victor Bowers including permanent classrooms and parking-lot upgrades.
Kanisha Tarrant, speaking for Norco-area projects and districtwide technology components, said Highland site work includes seven new TK/kindergarten classrooms (construction began June 17, expected summer 2025). She reported $60,000,000 earmarked for technology upgrades districtwide, with $37,500,000 already allocated to purchase devices, projectors and data drops and to refresh aging classroom equipment.
The committee said all Measure GG projects it reviewed met the statutory requirement to report on project scope and expenditures. Board members asked planning and timing questions about a Chavez Academy gym allocation and about combining Measure GG dollars with general-fund contributions; staff said final timing for additional bond issuances will depend on market conditions and required spending-down thresholds.
The board received the report and thanked the committee for its oversight. The committee recommended continued outreach so the public can track measure progress and vacancies on the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee.
