The Village of Maywood Board approved a $1,500 payment to Maywood Property Management, LLC for façade work at 840 South 17th Avenue and voted to expand the Façade Improvement Program into a Business Improvement Program.
Community Development Business Coordinator Angela Smith summarized the $1,500 reimbursement request to be paid from the Madison Avenue TIF; trustees approved the payment by voice vote. Trustee I. Brandon introduced a motion to expand the Façade Program to a broader Business Improvement Program and to refer budget specifics to the finance committee for further discussion; Trustee M. Jones seconded. Trustee N. Booker cautioned about reducing spending given COVID-19 economic impacts. The motion passed on a roll call vote, 4 in favor (Perkins, Brandon, Jones, Wellington) and 3 opposed (Sanchez, Lightford, Booker).
The expansion directs staff to return with proposed program parameters and budget figures at a finance committee meeting before additional disbursements are made. The initial $1,500 payment for 840 South 17th Avenue was approved separately as a TIF-funded façade reimbursement.
