Staff said the district runs monthly drills and that teachers and staff are being trained; administrators can start and end drills through the system. The presenters noted that the app does not replace 911 or dispatch but provides an on‑top notification channel for staff and designated local officers.
Board members asked whether dispatch is integrated; staff said the app does not send alerts directly to dispatch and described ongoing outreach to local agencies to get buy‑in and participation. Staff said two officers currently have the app and that adding more first responders is under discussion. Presenters recommended adding system instructions to staff ID cards and continuing drills and communication to parents to avoid confusion when drills occur.
The board thanked staff for the demonstration and asked for an annual update on changes and improvements to the system.
