Glen Ridge Council adopts two ordinances, approves bills list and multiple liquor-license renewals

The Glen Ridge Borough Council on June 15 adopted two ordinances, approved the bills list and approved four liquor-license renewals in a series of routine roll-call votes.

Councilor Lefkowitz presented Resolution 103-25, the bills list authorizing payment of claims from borough funds, and the council approved the resolution by roll call (6 ayes, 0 nays). The council then opened and closed the public hearings for Ordinance 18-24, which appropriates capital-improvement funds for various projects and equipment, and Ordinance 18-25, which establishes titles for nonunion borough employees and sets 2025 maximum annual salaries including for the police captain; both ordinances were adopted on final reading by 6-0 roll-call votes.

In short, the council took the following votes: it approved the bills list (Resolution 103-25), adopted Ordinance 18-24 (capital improvements), and adopted Ordinance 18-25 (employee titles and police captain salary). No members of the public spoke during the ordinance public hearings.

Councilor Hughes then moved a set of liquor-license renewals and the council approved each by roll call. Resolutions approved included: - Resolution 104-24: Ridge Bottle King (Bottle King Discount Liquors), license renewed for 07/01/2025–06/30/2026 (approved 6-0). - Resolution 105-25: Glen Ridge Country Club, license renewal approved after correcting the premises address to 2555 Ridgewood Avenue (approved 6-0). - Resolution 106-25: Mayfield Tavern Partners (Fitzgerald’s, 13 Herman Street), renewal approved (6-0). - Renewal for Newcap Incorporated, doing business as Glen Ridge Pharmacy and Liquors, approved (6-0).

The council’s actions were procedural and carried unanimously; there were no substantive public comments or recorded objections on these items. The clerk recorded each roll-call result and declared the motions carried.
