The Taylor City Council approved a series of consent and regular-agenda items at its meeting, including appointments, contract payments, training authorizations, vehicle purchases and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) subrecipient agreements.
On a motion approved earlier in the meeting, the council appointed Dennis Herwig to the Taylor Veterans Museum Commission for a four-year term ending March 17, 2030; Herwig was sworn in at the meeting.
Following a closed session to discuss pending litigation, the council approved the settlement of risk management claim QL1278 as recommended by the attorney in closed session.
The council also approved a range of operational contracts and training items: a sole-source award to Synergy Products to outfit five Building Department vehicles with docking stations and lighting packages; payment of up to $38,340 to the Michigan Law Enforcement Training Association LLC to provide continuing constitutional policing training (16 of the required 24 hours annually) for department officers; inspection-pay rates not to exceed $45 per inspection for contract inspectors; a $6,000 annual inspection and maintenance agreement with Westshore for warning sirens; canine recertification training at a cost not to exceed $835; and two officers to attend cellular analysis training (cost not to exceed $1,092).
The council approved a vehicle purchase through state contract from LaFontaine Chrysler for $35,876 (identified as a Durango) funded with federal forfeiture MNET funds. Council also authorized the mayor to sign purchase agreements for two small parcels, one for up to $11,000 and another for up to $10,000 (proceeds to the general fund), and approved a subrecipient agreement for the 2026 CDBG action plan allocating $12,000 each to Fish & Loaves, The Guidance Center and Senior Alliance.
All listed motions were supported and carried by voice or roll-call affirmation during the meeting; no item in this package recorded a failed motion in the transcript.
