Grand Blanc City Council approves EMS study and security upgrades, and terminates Communities First purchase agreement

Council approved a $15,000 CPSM EMS study funded from the general fund, authorized $16,791 for ballistic glass at City Hall, approved National League of Cities dues and Genesee County Metropolitan Alliance appointments, updated the fee schedule, and terminated a lapsed purchase agreement with Communities First.
The Grand Blanc City Council on Jan. 14 approved several administrative and spending items and ended a lapsed purchase agreement with Communities First.
On a motion by Council Member Chris Carr, supported by Jamie Weasel, the council approved a CPSM EMS services proposal for $15,000 to be paid from the city’s General Fund. The council also approved purchasing ballistic glass for the administration side of City Hall from Total Security Solutions for $16,791 on a motion by Carr supported by Weasel.
Council Member Julie Nielsen moved, supported by Christ Douglas, to approve National League of Cities dues of $1,353, and later the council approved appointments and dues for the Genesee County Metropolitan Alliance. The council also approved a fee-schedule update that, among other changes, rescinded the water shut-off/turn-off fee back to $50.
On the Communities First purchase agreement, the council voted, on a motion by Andy Nyquist supported by Chris Carr, to terminate the agreement based on a lapsed date. Council Member Carr said he was disappointed the Communities First project fell through. Council Member Weasel said he was excited about other projects presented that evening. Council Member Douglas congratulated the Fire Department on a successful year and praised Rust Park. Mayor Creasey said he thought good decisions were made and noted the city’s Mistletoe Market Place event.
The council’s minutes show the meeting then moved into a closed session to consider purchase of real property and pending legislation and later adjourned.
