Sugar Land honors Citizens Fire Academy Class 23; class president praises department

Sugar Land City Council recognized graduates of Citizens Fire Academy Class 23 and heard remarks from the class president.
Fire Chief Mark Campisi and assistant leaders introduced the graduates and described the academy as an important community program that gives residents a behind‑the‑scenes look at fire operations. The mayor and council invited graduates forward for a group photograph.
Todd Kelly, the class president, said the program provided hands‑on experiences and a better appreciation for the department’s discipline and leadership. “They taught us CPR and all kinds of different things … it was real, eye opening, kind of a thing,” Kelly said, thanking the firefighters and program alumni for their instruction and support.
Council members congratulated the graduates and encouraged continued community involvement with the fire department and related volunteer programs.
