Sugar Land proclaims April 22 as Earth Day, announces April 18 event

Christian Eubanks, the city’s environmental manager, outlined the city’s Earth Day event scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Center Plaza. Eubanks said the Solid Waste Department and Keep Sugar Land Beautiful will host food trucks, music, environmental education, demonstrations including a recycling truck from Republic Services, and family activities.
“Bring your family out. Learn a little bit about the environment. Learn how to live a little bit more sustainably,” Eubanks said as he encouraged residents to attend.
The proclamation cited the first Earth Day in 1970 and noted the global participation in the observance. The mayor encouraged ongoing community efforts around recycling, waste reduction and resource conservation. No formal council actions were required for the proclamation.
The city will promote event details on its web and social channels and continue partnership efforts with Keep Sugar Land Beautiful and city departments to expand participation.
