Representative Nadler presented House Bill 11‑47 as a follow‑up to last year’s CPA reforms that reduced required credit hours from 150 to 120 while increasing required work experience. The bill would permit candidates who earn a bachelor's degree with an accounting concentration (including a proposed 90‑hour Manchester University program under review) to sit for the CPA exam after 120 hours.
Lou Belch, representing the Indiana CPA Society, said the organization supports the bill because without it graduates of a potential 90‑hour degree program at Manchester University would be unable to continue through the licensing pathway created last year.
The committee voted 13‑0 to report the bill out of committee.
Next steps: The bill will proceed to the House floor for further consideration.
