Facilities director details HVAC, flooring and site repairs at Suffield schools

Director of Facilities Larry Plano briefed the board on multiple ongoing projects including rooftop HVAC units expected to finish this fall, high school flooring replacement, sidewalk repairs at A. Ward Spaulding Elementary, portable improvements, bathroom and exterior renovations at McAlister Intermediate, and new baseball/softball scoreboards.
Larry Plano, the district's Director of Facilities, updated the Suffield Board of Education on a slate of ongoing capital and maintenance projects.
Plano said installation of rooftop HVAC units at the high school is underway and expected to wrap up this fall. He also reported replacement of flooring at the high school, planned sidewalk repairs outside A. Ward Spaulding Elementary School, improvements to portable classroom units at Spaulding, bathroom renovations and exterior work at McAlister Intermediate School, and replacement of the baseball and softball scoreboards.
Superintendent Matt Dunbar thanked the Permanent Building Commission and the town for supporting several of the projects. No formal vote or funding action was recorded during the update.
Board members did not request additional action in the meeting minutes; work was described as ongoing and part of the district's facilities program.
