Committee advances PLA agency bill to consolidate licensing rules and extend correction window

Representative Miller presented House Bill 12‑30 as the Professional Licensing Agency’s agency bill. He said the bill consolidates duplicate administrative provisions, updates licensing board membership to expand appointment pools, updates appraisal management company rules to meet federal requirements and extends the time for licensees to correct deficiencies from 30 to 90 days.
Emma Yarber, legislative director for the Professional Licensing Agency, asked for the committee’s support and said the measure is intended to improve operational efficiency and consumer protection. The committee accepted Amendment #1 by consent to remove proposed dentistry‑board changes after stakeholder discussions.
Steve Douglas of the Indiana Hearing Alliance testified he was neutral and that his organization watches license‑board changes closely; he said the changes overall were acceptable for maintaining consumer access while protecting standards.
The committee voted to report the bill out as amended by a unanimous voice/roll call (13‑0).
