The Richland County Natural Resources Standing Committee agreed on April 6 to hold a public hearing next month on a short-term rental ordinance that had been previously drafted and discussed. Committee members said there were no substantive changes since the last distribution of the packet and that the item should proceed to a public hearing and then to the county board for final adoption in May.
Staff noted that statutory notice requires publication and posting of the agenda item; the committee discussed ways to notify interested parties, including the county agenda, the local paper and partners such as tourism. The committee expressed general support for scheduling the public hearing and moving the ordinance along the statutory hearing and adoption process.
Next steps: staff will publish the public-hearing notice, include the ordinance as an agenda item for the next meeting and forward the ordinance to the county board in May for final approval and effectuation.
