For the record, Representative Lynn Dickinson said the first two instances were "a technical correction to the number 300,000 to correct a typo of the number. They left off a 0 in that bill." The third change would strike subsection h, which funded $75,000 for a pension and benefits task force; Dickinson said that funding already appears in the larger appropriations bill and should not be duplicated. The fourth change removes section 24 and instead relies on a position already included in the appropriations bill for the unclaimed property division of the treasurer's office.
Dickinson told members the appropriations committee had heard from the fiscal office, legal counsel and a representative of the treasurer's office while preparing the amendment. "We voted, I believe, 1 0 0 on this," she said, describing prior action in appropriations.
The committee chair said they had been present for much of the discussion and thanked Dickinson for presenting the amendment. After brief discussion the chair asked whether members were comfortable taking a position; members registered informal assent (thumbs), and the panel indicated it would finalize the amendment language for action at the committee's next scheduled consideration.
The committee did not record a formal floor motion in this transcript; members treated the presentation as the basis for a forthcoming formal amendment to be considered at the next step.
The committee recessed briefly to await another member before reviewing remaining amendment language.
