Council members heard reports about surface damage tied to recent Comcast fiber-optic installation and a related resident inquiry about street markings.
Resident Tasha Lingos asked why red stripes had been painted on a local street; Mayor Greg Harrigan said the markings were related to Comcast repair work. Later in the meeting, Harrigan reported that MasTec, the Comcast contractor, had left sinkholes and soft shoulders where it had excavated. Council members were told MasTec's earlier work had been poor but that the company responded after the town indicated it might perform the repairs itself. MasTec agreed to come back to Interlaken and coordinate road and shoulder repairs with Public Works Manager Derek Becker.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; staff will monitor repairs and coordinate with MasTec. Residents with concerns about specific locations were not asked to file formal claims during the meeting but were given information about the contractor and the planned follow-up.
