Commissioners grant one-year extension for Rural Propane Services subdivision preliminary approval

Lincoln County commissioners on April 23 voted to extend for one year the preliminary plat approval for the proposed Rural Propane Services subdivision, setting the new expiration date at May 18, 2026.
Staff presented a request from Jackola Engineering on behalf of the developer describing the project as a three-lot commercial subdivision about 1 mile north of the Highway 37 intersection on US Highway 93, with lot sizes of about 1.37 to 13.1 acres. Staff reported the subdivision road has been designed by a professional engineer and has been constructed, power has been extended to each lot, and Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) had preliminarily approved on-site water, sewer and stormwater systems but the developer had not yet provided the final DEQ approval letter.
County staff and commissioners said remaining steps included weed inspection and management plan completion, a fire risk assessment and a fire prevention plan or waiver, plus preparation of the final plat documents. Commissioners concluded a one-year extension was reasonable for this first request and approved it by voice vote; the motion to approve the extension was made and seconded on the record and no public comment opposed the request.
The extension preserves the developer’s approval status while the outstanding technical items and final DEQ documentation are completed. The county indicated it would notify GIS and the relevant departments to reflect the extension in official records.
