At the workshop, staff presented a revision to policy 1.404 governing appeals and appearances before the board. The proposed change would make comments subject only to topics listed on the meeting agenda and matters that are germane to the school board's jurisdiction. Staff acknowledged there were formatting issues in the packet and offered to circulate an updated draft before the next meeting.
"The line beginning in ’16 going into ’17, comments shall be limited to topics listed on the agenda and matters that are germane to the school board's jurisdiction," a staff member explained. Board members asked whether time-limit language from the previous policy (for example, 15 minutes total and three minutes per speaker) remained intact; staff said those time limits appear elsewhere in the policy and would be clarified in the updated version.
The revision was introduced for discussion at the workshop; staff will follow up with a corrected, circulated draft for the board's review and potential action at a future meeting.
