Town Manager Brock Hall reminded Council that 2026 marks Midway's 20th anniversary and that funds were set aside in last year’s budget. Council settled on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as the preferred date and discussed logistics for a three-hour midday celebration.
Members favored using food trucks rather than on-site cooking and suggested recruiting four or five trucks to provide variety (barbecue, sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs and desserts). Councilor Jackie Edwards recommended local caterers such as Kevin's Catering and Shanna's Catering. The Council discussed hiring an event coordinator with experience; Mayor Pro Tem Mike McAlpine and Councilor Edwards had consulted Donna Alwine from Wallburg, who had offered planning advice and help.
Early action items identified included ordering banners and commemorative items, securing a Bluetooth-capable PA system, confirming caterers/food trucks, preparing invitation lists for elected officials, and arranging historical displays and building tours at Town Hall. Mr. Hall confirmed approximately $20,000 had been allocated for the event and said he would pursue potential coordination assistance and return with more details at a later meeting.
