Town Manager Brock Hall presented a request from Sunnyside Ministries to hold an event at Midway Town Park on July 25, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. The organization described the event as part of a Bluegrass series intended to raise awareness of its food-assistance and crisis-support services for northern Davidson County residents.
Council discussed several conditions the town requires for outside vendors and amplified sound. Members were particularly focused on whether food trucks should be allowed under the park policy. Councilors suggested limiting the number of trucks to one or two (Mr. Hall later noted staff would communicate a maximum of three as requested), and placing them in the gravel parking lot rather than the concrete lot near the pavilion to reduce risks such as grease spills. Council also required proof of insurance and compliance with all other park rules.
Council reached consensus to waive the pavilion rental fee as a gesture to the nonprofit, noting Sunnyside Ministries’ service to the community. Mayor Pro Tem Mike McAlpine acknowledged the worthiness of the ministry and said significant publicity would be needed to attract attendees to a two-hour evening event in Midway. Town staff will communicate the conditions and document requirements to Sunnyside Ministries before the event moves forward.
The decision was recorded as a Council consensus rather than a formal motion; final authorization remains subject to staff confirmation that Sunnyside Ministries accepts the stated conditions.
