Wyoming Community Gas balloting underway; Torrington reports $12,405.88 distribution
Summary
City staff urged residents to return Wyoming Community Gas ballots by April 22 to select a supplier; Rhonda Estes said the program returns a portion of revenue to participating communities and reported a $12,405.88 distribution for Torrington.
Rhonda Estes, senior accounting clerk for the City of Torrington, provided an update on the Wyoming Community Gas program during the April 7 council meeting and encouraged residents to return balloting forms by April 22 if they wish to join or switch suppliers for the supply portion of their natural gas.
Estes said Black Hills Energy continues to handle billing and distribution while participating in Wyoming Community Gas applies only to the supply portion. She described community benefits that have come from the program — scholarship support, picnic shelters, park benches, ADA‑accessible library shelving and lighting for the community center — and reported that Torrington received a distribution of $12,405.88 from Wyoming Community Gas this year.
City Hall staff offered to help residents who receive ballots and noted the larger the enrollment group, the more negotiating leverage for lower supply costs. "If you know anyone that is wanting assistance in balloting, don't hesitate to send them our direction," Estes said.
