District gives construction update, Elementary School Eight out to bid; district readies mailers and outreach

District staff provided a construction and communications update at the Jan. 14 meeting, detailing project timing and community outreach plans tied to upcoming bids and bond work.

Robb Stanton, Executive Director of School Planning & Construction, said 14 projects are bundled into five major and three minor groupings and are at varying phases: some moved into permitting this month, secure-reception and special-education permitting is underway, and the secure portable work has been accepted. He said Elementary School Number Eight is out to bid for the major portion of work, with more bids opening at the end of January, final bids expected in March and a full contract anticipated in April. Stanton noted field lighting and gym projects across the district are scheduled over 2026–2027.

Executive Director Jayme Taylor outlined district communications plans, including a printed newsletter (Lake Schools) to be delivered by Jan. 23 with information about the upcoming levy and bond updates, and a public open house for Elementary School Number Eight on Feb. 18 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at Stevens Creek Elementary. Taylor said mailed materials reach residents who may not be connected to the district online and that the district is conducting outreach to local and underserved contractors to encourage local bidding participation.

The update was informational; the board took no additional vote on the information items beyond earlier motions tied to construction acceptances and resolutions.
