Patricia Kleinholtz appeared before the Spokane City Council as an applicant for the CHHS (Community, Housing and Human Services) board. Kleinholtz said she has served on the affordable-housing committee for about 11 years and recently became the committee chair following rule changes that altered eligibility for chairs.
She said her family has owned downtown property for decades and that she has lived in Spokane for 26 years. Kleinholtz said those experiences inform her view that the board should focus on cross-agency coordination, improving communication among law enforcement, health-care providers and human-services organizations, and ensuring services reach vulnerable residents.
Asked about priorities for CHHS, Kleinholtz said rapid changes in law and leadership require concerted collaboration and an emphasis on connecting people who ‘‘know what they’re doing’’ across systems. A council member who serves with Kleinholtz on the county health board described her as highly engaged at a granular level and endorsed her for the position.
Council thanked Kleinholtz for applying and said the administration will follow up on next steps.
