Planning commission reviews revisions to 2026 General Plan, schedules further agency reviews

At its March 5 meeting the Planning and Land Use Commission reviewed edits to the draft 2026 General Plan, asked staff to incorporate Water Advisory Committee input, and agreed to await a March 12 Fire District Board review before finalizing Section 6; members also agreed to add a public-engagement addendum.
The Planning and Land Use Commission of the Town of Castle Valley reviewed revisions to the draft 2026 General Plan at its regular meeting on March 5 and directed staff to update the document with recently received technical input and an agreed addendum.
Faylene Roth, clerk for the commission, said a Water Advisory Committee review of Section 5 on water had been received and was incorporated into the current draft. Roth told members she would update the draft as directed and circulate the revised text ahead of the next meeting.
Ryan Anderson, a commission member, said he would provide a written WAC report to the commission; members voted to include Anderson's document summarizing Section H, "Let Your Voice Be Heard," as an addendum to the General Plan. Colleen Thompson, the town's building permit agent, was assigned with Anderson to help incorporate the addendum material into the draft.
Roth also said the commission was awaiting a Fire District Board review of Section 6, Fire Protection and Emergency Preparedness, scheduled for that board's March 12, 2026 meeting; the commission agreed to hold further action on that section pending the fire board's input.
At the start of the meeting the commission adopted the agenda and approved the minutes of the Feb. 5, 2026 meeting; both motions passed unanimously (mover and seconder recorded in the minutes). The commission did not take a final vote on the General Plan during the March 5 meeting.
The commission expects the draft—with incorporated WAC comments and the Anderson addendum—to return for further review after the Fire District Board and staff updates are received.
