Organizers updating the Select Board on the town's 250th celebration said the event is scheduled for June 27 and will include a farmers market, vendors beginning at 2 p.m., and programming starting at 4 p.m. near the monument; the school plans to participate with essay and coloring contests.
Organizers said they have held two planning meetings and will invite farmer's-market vendors. They asked the board for guidance on fundraising and sponsorship outreach and noted that fireworks estimates they have received start at about $10,000.
"And was low as 10,000 for us," an organizer said when the group discussed fireworks pricing, adding that volunteers plan donation efforts at the upcoming voting day to help fund the event.
The board expressed appreciation for the planning work and asked organizers to bring a budget and sponsorship plan to the next meeting; no formal funding decision was made at the March 9 meeting.
