Nome board approves FY27 administrative contracts, calendar and reduction-in-force plan

The Nome Public Schools Board of Education approved several administrative items at its Jan. 13 meeting, with each motion passing on a roll-call vote.
Student Representative Sara James moved to approve the FY27 administrative contracts for Elizabeth Korenek-Johnson, Teriscovkya Smith, Holly Harlow and Emily Annas; the motion carried, with Members Marjorie Kunaq Tahbone, Jon Gregg, Nancy Mendenhall and Sigvanna Tapqaq voting yes; Member Darlene Trigg was excused; Sara James cast an advisory yes.
Member Nancy Mendenhall moved to approve the FY27 detailed calendar and templates for FY28 and FY29 as presented by the Calendar Committee; the motion carried on the same roll-call basis. Member Jon Gregg moved to approve an updated Reduction in Force Plan; the motion carried. Member Gregg also moved to approve use of the SuperEval platform to conduct the superintendent’s FY26 evaluation; that motion carried as well.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the agenda and a consent agenda (December minutes, disbursements, gifts and personnel report). No motions failed or were tabled during the regular meeting; the board adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
