Fletcher seeks state revolving funds to extend sewer to three unserved streets

Fletcher staff updated the council that the town is pursuing state revolving funds administered by the Department of Environmental Quality with EPA support to connect several unserved streets to central sewer. The application aims to convert decentralized septic systems on Westfeld, North Hudson Lane and Dahlberg Terrace to sewer, covering line extension, connection fees and the house connection.
The town manager said staff sent a resident survey to assess failing septic systems and support the competitive application. He acknowledged a mailing error in which the survey attachment was omitted and said the corrected survey has been resent; responses are beginning to arrive. Land of Sky is assisting with the full application and the town completed a preliminary submission.
If awarded, the manager said the funding is expected to pay for most costs associated with the connection. He said staff will notify council when the full application is submitted and will continue outreach to affected residents.
Council had no questions beyond the update. The town will return with status when the application is filed.
