Holly Area School District board ratifies three-year contract with Holly Education Association

The Holly Area School District Board of Education voted unanimously Sept. 8 to approve a three-year contract with the Holly Education Association (HEA), covering July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. The approval followed an executive session on negotiations and a public reconvening of the board.
Dr. Cunningham moved to approve the agreement; Mr. Deahl supported the motion. The roll call was 7 Aye, 0 No, and the motion carried. The contract was discussed during an executive session held under Section 8(c) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act, as noted by the board prior to the vote.
Matt Parker, president of the HEA and a 25-year teacher in the district, said he had met with Superintendent Scott Roper and members of the negotiating team and "feels everyone's goals have been met," thanking the administration, negotiating team and the board for their time and commitment. Superintendent Roper later publicly acknowledged Parker's work with the negotiating team.
The contract's approval was presented to the board as a concluded negotiation; no further details of salary schedules, benefits or specific contract language were discussed in open session. The district indicated the contract will be implemented beginning July 1, 2025.
