Nico Zamora, the student representative and ASB executive treasurer, briefed the board on upcoming student activities and concerns about student engagement.
Zamora said a recent Halloween social drew only about 15 students despite being free and noted a broader issue of students wanting better activities but not wanting to pay more. He said ASB plans a November food drive across high-school classrooms with rewards for the top classroom and a program of staff appreciation efforts.
Zamora announced that the winter formal theme is "A Night in New York," scheduled for Dec. 13 with a related assembly on Dec. 5, and asked the board and staff to consider donations so the event would not require raising ticket prices.
He closed by thanking the board and taking questions; trustees praised the report and had brief scheduling questions about how exploratory rotations and PLC time are being integrated at elementary levels when related staffing items came later in the agenda.
