The chair of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Board of Education opened a March 17 special meeting, moved to approve the agenda and, after a second, called for a vote that passed 3-0. “I’ll motion to approve the agenda,” the chair said, and then announced, “Motion passes 3 0.”
The chair then asked Doctor Dean to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. After routine business, the chair said, “We will now recess to closed session to talk about conference with labor negotiator,” and indicated the board expected to reconvene at 12:30.
When the board returned, the chair announced the time as 12:41 and stated that there was no action taken in closed session. With that announcement, the chair adjourned the meeting.
The meeting record shows a single formal vote to approve the agenda and a closed-session recess to discuss labor negotiations; no motions, decisions or reportable outcomes related to the closed session were disclosed on the public record.
