Board approves personnel resolutions, charter and school plans in unanimous votes

The board reported that in closed session it adopted resolutions under California Education Code section 44954 authorizing the superintendent or her designee to notify the probationary and temporary certificated employees listed on the resolutions of nonreemployment for the 2025–26 school year. President Noory said those resolutions passed unanimously.
On the consent agenda the board voted to waive the reading, accept reports, adopt resolutions and approve other listed items; the consent motion carried on roll call 5–0.
On a public hearing and subsequent action, the board adopted Resolution 010 approving material revisions to Summit Preparatory Charter High School’s charter (removing a founding-family lottery preference while retaining sibling, in-district resident and staff preferences). Assistant Superintendent Hansen explained the change and said the revised preferences will take effect in June 2025 and run through June 2030. The motion carried 5–0.
Principal Ogden presented Redwood High School’s Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) action plan, reviewed three priority improvement areas and reported gains in student attendance and outcomes; the board approved the WASC plan on a 5–0 roll-call vote.
The board also adopted Resolution 009, presented by Assistant Superintendent Beal, to effect a reduction in force for three classified positions due to lack of work or funds: the chief technology officer position, the director of human resources, and a senior administrative secretary position (the latter listed as vacant). Beal said the district must present notices on or before March 15 under applicable education-code requirements; the resolution carried 5–0. Beal clarified that East Palo Alto Academy Vice Principal Salita Okanuga was not included in that reduction list.
