Summary
City council approved a renewed IT services agreement with Executech that folds in cybersecurity upgrades supported by a recent grant and consolidates licensing costs; staff said the changes improve protections and will lower some recurring licensing fees although base costs rise.
The council unanimously approved a resolution April 7 renewing the city's IT services agreement with Executech (now described as a Modern Technology Partnership) and adding a suite of cybersecurity services funded in part through a recently awarded SLCGP cybersecurity grant.
City staff said the updated agreement consolidates software licensing and storage into a single seat-based cost that will simplify billing and reduce separate per-license charges, and that the grant will cover much of the initial implementation cost. The new service elements include 24/7 endpoint and server protection and other managed detection and response features; staff also said the city now qualifies for higher WCIA coverage tiers and a $1,000,000 breach warranty associated with the new services.
Staff indicated the monthly base cost will increase but that overall licensing/storage expenses should decline once consolidation and grant funding are applied. The council approved Resolution 26-803 unanimously.
Mayor Terry Cooper and council members praised staff work on digital records organization, cybersecurity improvements and the expected long-term efficiencies of consolidated licensing. Staff said they will continue to monitor costs and bring forward any required budget amendments.
