The High Point Community Development Committee on April 7 approved the 2027 urgent repair assistance policy and related procurement and disbursement procedures and forwarded the item to full council.
Nina Wilson, Community Development and Housing director, told the committee the policy remains unchanged: "Residents can still receive up to $15,000 for urgent repairs," forgiven at a rate of $5,000 per year. She said the presenter would seek administrative adjustments to income limits once the city’s 2026 income limits are released and included that assistance policy information with each applicant’s packet.
Wilson said the city’s award for the 2027 urgent repair program is $137,500 and that the city will provide a $10,000 general-fund match for a total program amount of $147,500. She requested the committee authorize the appropriate city official to execute documents necessary to implement the program.
Councilmember Tyrone Johnson moved to approve agenda item 2026-106; the committee approved the item by voice vote and will forward the policy to full council for final approval and execution.
