Game and Fish letter prompts questions about proposed Fenster Slough boat landing

Jason said North Dakota Game and Fish reached out seeking an MOU to install a primitive boat landing and regrade an eroded approach at Fenster Slough off County Road 2. He described the plan as a gravel slope to improve access and said the agency would pay for the work. “They wanna put in a bolt landing, primitive bolt landing off of County 2 into the Fenster Slough,” Jason said.
Commissioners raised concerns about parking capacity at the site, whether townships support increased access, and whether planned or possible changes in water levels could make an early investment wasteful. One commissioner said the water board and townships should be consulted to confirm whether water-management plans could reduce lake levels and render a landing unnecessary. Another commissioner recommended inviting Game and Fish to present detailed plans at a future meeting.
