Schuylkill Valley board moves forward on field house; selects insulated metal panels and approves phase 2 trade contracts

The Schuylkill Valley School Board voted to advance a proposed field house project and to award multiple phase 2 construction contracts, the board announced after a presentation, public comment and extended board discussion.

Dr. Winters, who presented renderings and site plans for a combined multipurpose and turf building, told the board the total project cost originally estimated at roughly $25,000,000 was substantially reduced after bids returned and that the district is now looking at multiple scenarios "just under 25,000,000" in earlier planning and roughly $18 million in some bid-based configurations. She summarized three options for the board: build both a multipurpose building and a turf building; build only the multipurpose space; or not move forward.
