At the March 16 work session the board’s business official, Bill Moffett, announced multiple emergent personnel and legal agenda items the board added for consideration.
Moffett said the board will add a rescinded termination/settlement and a revocable letter of resignation in the matter of employee ID 6734 dated March 3, 2025 and authorized board officers to execute settlement documents. He also said the board will add approval of an administrative‑leave directive requiring employee ID 9571 to submit to a psychiatric and/or psychological examination by a designated physician (Dr. Charles Park, MD, of Clark, New Jersey) pursuant to NJSA 18A:16‑2, NJAC 6A:32‑6.3 and Board policy 3161; the employee has been placed on administrative leave with pay as of March 3, 2025 pending the examination.
Moffett announced personnel appointment items for extracurricular positions, naming Christopher Benaquista for Wayne Valley High School head football coach (Step 4, $12,156, pending paperwork and fingerprint approval) and for head coach strength/weight room (Step 4, $4,312 per season). He also said a revised acting‑principal compensation amount would be added under additional compensation (text provided in the update).
Separately, Moffett announced an emergent legal item recommending that, following a disenrollment hearing under NJAC 6A:22‑4.3 and upon the superintendent’s recommendation, student ID 7763311607 be disenrolled for not being legally domiciled in Wayne and that the business administrator/board secretary send formal notice and a bill for unlawful attendance totaling $16,698; the removal was listed as effective March 28, 2025.
The board approved the evening’s agenda with the additions (roll call produced an abstention on two items by one member and 'yes' votes from others), and the chair opened the meeting for public comment on agenda items.
