Maywood board approves water-system upgrades and hot-water heater for Village Hall

Public Works Director John West described completed and ongoing department projects and presented the purchase requests. The board unanimously approved the hot-water heater purchase — quoted at $9,870 — after a motion by Trustee Booker and a second by Trustee Jones.
The board also approved removal of a small redundant SCADA station and installation of a backup OIT for the water system, based on a $10,612 quote from Automatic Control Services. That purchase was approved with Madison TIF funds; the roll call showed four ayes, one nay (Trustee I. Brandon) and one abstention (Trustee N. Booker). The minutes record the vote breakdown and note that the SCADA purchase included a bid waiver (per the meeting packet).
Why it matters: SCADA and OIT equipment is central to automated control of municipal water pumping and distribution; a backup operator interface is a resilience measure for water operations. The hot-water heater replaces a large-capacity unit serving Village Hall.
The village engineer also presented an information-only update on the street-overlay funding schedule from the North Central Council of Mayors. No additional funding action for the overlay project was taken at this meeting.
Next steps: Public Works will coordinate installation with the contracted vendors; the SCADA change will be implemented under the approved procurement with Madison TIF funding.
