Lancaster County proclaims April 2026 National Reentry Awareness Month; program graduate credits community corrections

Jeff Kilpatrick of Community Corrections introduced program staff and invited a recent graduate to speak about the program’s effect. Derek, a program participant, described multiple prior felony charges and said the reentry program and case management “changed my life,” adding that he has been sober for 29 months and credited the program’s structure, staff and local partners for his progress.
Commissioners thanked the speaker and Community Corrections staff, and a motion to adopt the proclamation passed on a roll call vote. The board recorded appreciation for the work of county reentry staff and encouraged support for related services that the proclamation described as improving public safety by helping formerly incarcerated people return to their communities with assistance for education, employment and behavioral health needs.
The proclamation will be signed and entered into the record as indicated by the board.
