Staff presented four youth event funding requests for robotics competitions and a $1,200 nonprofit sponsorship request for a regional award event. The council policy for youth event funding (policy 5.3) limits individual requests and caps group requests; these applications met the policy criteria.
Each of the four robotics teams applied for the group cap of $600; the combined new requests total $2,400. Staff showed a budget summary: $35,000 was budgeted for combined programs, $19,800 has already been allocated, and approval of the new requests plus the nonprofit sponsorship ($1,200) would bring total expended to $23,400, leaving an estimated balance of $11,600.
Council had no objections and asked staff to process the applications; staff noted they are awaiting one additional application (Pathway School) to complete the slate.
Next steps: staff will bring the funding requests forward for processing per council policy and will report back if additional applications or budget adjustments arise.
