Tehachapi Unified trustees approve grant with Kern CCD, vendor contracts and multiple CTE coursework items

At its March 10 meeting the Tehachapi Unified School District Governing Board approved a set of routine agreements, grant participation and course approvals.
Key approvals included participation in a regional grant with Kern Community College District (Grant Project ID 32638) to modernize agricultural science, design and digital photography career technical education pathways; a services engagement with Christie White, CPA to certify the district’s electronic signature processes; and an agreement to transition LEA POB Medi-Cal billing support and training to Leader Services effective July 1, 2025. The board also declared certain district personnel department items surplus and approved coursework for graphic design, digital photography and woodshop/manufacturing lab assistant work experience.
On the CSBA Region 12B delegate ballot, trustees nominated Pamela Jacobson (incumbent) and Chris Cruz Boone; the board approved the nominations on a roll-call vote.
All motions carried without recorded opposition; several approvals were completed on the consent calendar or as routine business.
Why it matters: The grant approval secures state-level funding to expand CTE pathways and the Leader Services agreement allows the district to bill Medi-Cal for eligible student health-related services. The Christie White engagement is intended to ensure the district’s digital-signature workflows meet state auditing and security requirements.
