Facilities team outlines maintenance workload; Metro District seeks Tree City USA recertification and plans Arbor Day planting

Natural Resources Manager Nick Adamson presented HRMD26-113, asking the Board to recognize Friday, April 24, 2026 as Arbor Day. Adamson said the Metro District is seeking Tree City USA designation for the 38th consecutive year and explained the four Tree City standards, including a community forestry program with annual expenditures of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance. He said Forestry Division staff and volunteers will plant 15 trees in Kistler Park on April 24. Chairperson Anderson raised no objection to placing the item on the March 31 consent agenda.
