Tyson Emborg, Science and Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator for Douglas County School District, presented to the Highlands Ranch Metropolitan District board about the America 250 and Colorado 150 dual commemoration and ways the community can participate.
Emborg said the official celebration period runs from July 4, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2026, allowing events outside traditional July 4 and Aug. 1 dates to be included on the statewide calendar and historical archive. He described ongoing development of educational resources and student activities across grade levels that are intended to have instructional value beyond 2026, and noted that use of the official logo is provided free to the public and events may be submitted for inclusion on the statewide calendar.
The board thanked Emborg for the presentation and his interest in promoting local participation; no formal district action or funding request followed the briefing.
