Driver said the District is tracking legislation related to water and the environment, housing development, elections and records and transparency, infrastructure and public safety, and parks, recreation and volunteer requirements. She said the District is coordinating its monitoring and response efforts with the Special District Association, the Colorado Municipal League and Colorado Counties, Inc.
On federal policy, Driver said the District is supporting legislation that would "formally recognize special districts as local governments," which she said could enable special districts to qualify for future federal funding.
The update was presented as informational; board members thanked Driver and indicated they would welcome future updates. No formal direction or vote followed the presentation.
