The Farmington City Council approved the sale of about 2.1 acres at approximately 1820 W. Shepard Lane to Rocky Mountain Power (PacifiCorp) during its March 12 regular session.
City Manager Brigham Mellor told the council the parcel (Parcel ID #08-057-0019), which the City purchased from the Boyce family three years ago, will be sold for $1,000,000 and that the closing is scheduled for the following day. "Parcel ID #08-057-0019 will be sold for $1,000,000 to PacifiCorp. The City’s only financial loss was in transaction fees," Mellor said.
Mayor Brett Anderson opened the public hearing on the sale and closed it immediately after confirming that no one had signed up to comment in person or electronically. Councilmember Scott Isaacson moved to approve the sale; Councilmember Amy Shumway seconded. A roll call recorded aye votes from Mayor Pro Tempore/Councilmember Amy Shumway, Councilmember Roger Child, Councilmember Scott Isaacson, Councilmember Melissa Layton and Councilmember Kristen Sherlock. The motion passed unanimously.
The staff report on the item indicated the sale is part of coordination among the Utah State Legislature, STACK Real Estate, and the Utah Department of Transportation to locate a new power substation in west Farmington. The transcript states the closing will follow the council’s passage of the approving resolution.
No public speakers addressed the council during the hearing. The city recorder signed the minutes after adjournment; closing and any transfer paperwork were described as occurring after the meeting.
The sale proceeds are recorded as $1,000,000; the transcript did not specify how the proceeds will be allocated or whether the city will apply the funds to a particular budget or project.
