During the public comment period of the Jan. 8, 2026 Stillwater County Commission meeting, speakers urged county action after a recent Park City wind event.
"The Park City wind event and clean up of the sidewalks alleys and streets need to be a priority for the County," said Brian Myer of Environmental Contractors. Roger Herman of Tetra Tech said testing has been limited to school property: "No samples had been taken outside of the school boundaries," he said in response to a question from Commissioner Jeff Ruffatto.
Commissioner Roger Webb noted that without testing it will be difficult to determine the scope of required cleanup work. Commissioner Steve Riveland closed the public comment segment by noting the Board of Health will meet on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026 and that the wind event cleanup will be on that agenda for discussion of responsibilities and scope.
The record does not include any testing results, cost estimates, or a timeline for cleanup. County staff and the Board of Health were identified as the next forums to clarify responsibilities and to determine whether environmental sampling or other assessments are needed.
