Council dissolves Golf Course Operating Committee; staff outlines reopening and revenue outlook

The Bartlesville City Council voted March 2 to repeal the municipal ordinance governing the Adam Municipal Golf Course Operating Committee and place governance and oversight with course management reporting through the city manager.
Dee Rudman, the director of golf, told the council the operating committee is an outdated model used in past years when management was third‑party; the city now staffs course management directly and Rudman said an advisory group of regular players serves for feedback. Rudman said he contacted peer public courses and most no longer use a standing operating committee.
Rudman also delivered an operational update: since reopening in August, the course has posted roughly $621,000 in revenue for the period cited and staff projects the total for the fiscal year will exceed $1,000,000. Rudman noted seasonal patterns, the effect of cart availability on rounds played, and that course conditions are generally good heading into spring.
Council moved and approved the ordinance repeal; members said advisory feedback channels and manager oversight provide needed checks and balances.
