Bartlesville council awards $156,433 contract to repair Central Fire Station roof

The Bartlesville City Council voted to award a contract to Commercial Roofing Solutions of Oklahoma City to repair the original portion of Central Fire Station No. 1, accepting a low, compliant bid of $156,433.
Councilman Kirkpatrick, who sponsored the item, summarized the procurement: 18 contractors obtained the bid documents, 14 attended the mandatory pre-bid meeting and six submitted bids; only two bids were complete and accepted for evaluation. The other acceptable bid was from Bailey's Roofing and Construction of Sulphur at $242,000. Kirkpatrick said the project was funded from the 2020 general obligation bond (2023 issuance) and that the engineering specs allocated $164,665 to the project, leaving sufficient funds for the recommended award.
"Commercial Roofing Solutions came in as the lower of the two bids," Kirkpatrick said, recommending award to the low compliant bidder. A council member seconded the motion, and the council voted to award the contract. Staff said the bidder demonstrated required bonding capacity and prior government work.
Next step: staff will execute the contract and schedule the work per the specifications in the bid package. No additional appropriation was requested at the meeting; staff said the project fits within the previously allocated bond funds.
