Staff explained the donation had been made several years earlier for a Winston Street land acquisition that did not occur and that UCOR requested the funds be redirected to support the Scarborough development.
A council member summarized the background and noted UCOR's prior support for the city. Mayor and council members expressed support for redirecting the funds to the Scarborough project. The motion passed by voice vote and the special session was adjourned.
Next steps: Staff will process the reallocation and coordinate with the Oak Ridge Housing Authority on use of the funds for the Scarborough Community Redevelopment Project.
