Plaistow introduces new library director, Christine Mueller, who emphasizes community hub role

The Plaistow Board of Selectmen introduced Christine Mueller as the new director of the Plaistow Public Library. Randy, who led the search committee’s introduction, praised the staff and the importance of the library as a community hub.
Mueller outlined her background, including a degree from Colby College, years in technology and technical writing, and service on a municipal finance committee in Dunstable, Massachusetts. “I was on the finance committee for 9 years, and I chaired the last 2,” Mueller said, adding that experience gave her insight into municipal budgeting and stewardship that she carries into library management.
Mueller said she planned to learn from staff and the community rather than imposing an agenda immediately. “I think it’s important not to come in with an agenda ... I wanna watch and learn and see how people use it and talk to the staff to see what they need,” she said. She described the library as actively used by all ages and welcomed residents to stop in or contact her by email or phone.
Selectmen thanked Mueller and discussed informal plans for a reception to introduce her to the community. She requested that residents and board members reach out with questions as she learns the job.
Next steps: staff and selectmen plan a small reception at the library and will schedule opportunities for public engagement with the new director.
