Cusseta-Chattahoochee Commission adopts 2025–26 budget, with small adjustments noted

The Unified Government of Cusseta-Chattahoochee County on June 3 adopted its fiscal year 2025–26 operating and capital budget, approving the measure by unanimous vote during a regular meeting that also included several routine appointments and resolutions. The budget resolution follows two public hearings on April 14 and April 28, 2025, and is set to take effect July 1, 2025.
The commission voted to adopt the budget with the proviso that several income-line entries still need adjustment and that commissioners are considering increasing the mileage rate by 1–2 mils. County Manager Thomas Weaver briefed the board on steps needed to finalize those figures before the new fiscal year begins.
Also during the June 3 session the commission approved the reappointment of Carol Greer to Post 3 of the Board of Tax Assessors for a four-year term through June 1, 2029, and authorized routine items including the Friendship Road resurfacing project going out to bid. Commissioner Jason Frost moved to adopt the budget; Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded and the vote was unanimous.
A county memo included in the meeting record shows that Chattahoochee County DFCS will operate under a local county budget allocation of $4,650 for fiscal year 2026. The DFCS memo, dated May 21, 2025, and signed by Danielle Wiggins, Chattahoochee DFCS County Director, specifies that the county may issue advances of $387.50 monthly or reimburse expenditures at month-end depending on local procedures, and that expenditures of $300 or more require board approval.
The commission's adoption of the budget completes the formal step required before appropriations take effect on July 1. Commissioners said they expect to finalize income-line updates and the mileage-rate decision before that date.
