Plaistow Exchange Club to plant blue pinwheels for Child Abuse Prevention Month; Select Board gives consensus

Bob Harb, speaking for the Plaistow Exchange Club, asked the board March 30 for permission to plant blue pinwheels at town locations to mark Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.
Harb explained the national pinwheel awareness campaign and said the club plans plantings at the Town Green, the fire station and the Norman Major complex. “April is Child Abuse Prevention Month… we plant these blue pinwheels just to remind people to take all efforts they can to prevent child abuse,” Harb said, describing the local display and noting last year’s expansion to additional town sites.
Harb invited donations payable to the Plaistow Exchange Club and offered to collect contributions via mail; he said volunteers keep the pinwheels and reuse them in subsequent years. Board members expressed support and indicated consensus approval for the planting; the Exchange Club said the pinwheels would be placed beginning April 1.
The display is an awareness campaign rather than a town expenditure; Harb said the effort is funded by donations and managed by the Exchange Club.
