Bend staff: updated dry-well stormwater standards expected to take effect May 15

City of Bend staff told the Water Advisory Group on April 1 that updated standards for dry-well (underground infiltration or UIC) stormwater systems are close to finalization and would allow changes many designers have asked for.
Elizabeth, a city stormwater staffer, said the ‘‘updated changes should be signed off by city engineers weeks from now, and then they don't take effect until a month later, which would be May 15.’’ She said the update incorporates prior WAG input and includes provisions for modified, deeper dry wells, siting location requirements and updated horizontal and vertical setbacks, plus an "easy calculation method" template for determining facility size.
Staff said the changes are intended to provide flexibility for developers while ensuring water-quality treatment and aligning with DEQ expectations. The update will be posted with meeting slides and materials when available; staff asked WAG members to review the draft and share comments before implementation.
